Who Is Jason Sloan?

Jason Sloan is an incredibly accomplished electronic musician, composer, and sound artist from Baltimore, Maryland. Over the past two decades he has recorded dozens of ambient/electronic solo albums and collaborations, along with a collection of dark synth/minimal wave titles under the moniker L’Avenir. His work has been released under his own label, Slo.Bor Media that he founded with fellow ambient artist Matt Borghi in 2001, along with labels from Spain, Germany, and Sweden. Sloan has also performed live across the U.S., Canada, and Europe including the legendary Gatherings concert series in Philadelphia where I first heard him perform in September 2016. That evening also happened to be a celebration of the release of his most recent solo ambient work called Haven.

Additionally, Sloan received his MFA from Towson University and has received multiple Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artists Awards. His multimedia artwork has been exhibited all around the globe. When he’s not creating music and art, he’s teaching at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, where he works in the Interactive Arts department and founded the Sound Art program.

Visit Jason Sloan’s website for a comprehensive look and listen of his body of work. We’re honored to be hosting a live performance with Jason Sloan and Hotel Neon on Friday, June 29, 2018 at The Sixth Floor in Lancaster, PA.
